Product Architecture & System Logic
Because this initiative was a business-mandated project from leadership, traditional open-ended discovery was bypassed. My role was to translate executive objectives into concrete UI logic, system architecture, and clear success criteria.
Strategic UX Mandates: Audio remained the hero experience. The gamification layer needed to be understood at a glance (under 5 seconds), support all content formats (live radio, podcasts, music), and operate with zero pop-up friction during active listening.
Competitor Benchmark: Evaluated streak mechanics in leading habit-tracking and learning apps (Duolingo, Strava) to establish familiar mental models for streak progress, bonus entries, and state recovery.
Flow & State Architecture: Mapped the end-to-end logic across four critical states: explicit opt-in/opt-out user controls, weekly entry thresholds, forgiving multi-tiered bonus/loss recovery paths, and weekly rollover completion states.

Execution, Trade-offs & Rapid Testing
Leveraging LiSTNR’s mature UI component library allowed us to bypass low-fidelity wireframes and move straight into high-fidelity Figma prototyping, enabling rapid testing of layout options within the existing live app environment.
Layout & Placement Exploration: Explored non-intrusive widget placements and visual representations (progress rings vs. progress bars, daily minute counters, and milestone badges) to find the right balance between visibility and audio utility.
Unmoderated Usability Testing: Tested Ring vs. Bar dashboard layouts across 20 participants via UserTesting. Evaluated concept onboarding pop-ups, real-time minute update expectations, and at-a-glance clarity of streak states.
Data-Driven Refinements: Used usability feedback to simplify status iconography, clarify milestone thresholds, and refine home-screen widget states for broken vs. active streaks.

Key Takeaways & Reflections
Pragmatic Delivery under Constraints: Demonstrates the ability to step into a predefined business brief, synthesise technical constraints fast, and ship high-quality user flows without requiring an extended discovery phase.
Future Phase Iteration: For Phase 2, I would explore integrating native push notifications timed to personalised listening habits to proactively remind users of upcoming weekly entry cutoffs before resets occur.
